We are an independent charity established in 1991 to enable disabled
people to exercise freedom of choice, extend their horizons and make
decisions about the lifestyle they wish to pursue.
Many disabled people do not feel they have control over their
own life, nor do they have the range of choices the rest of society
enjoys. Many opportunities, services and facilities available in the
community as a whole exclude disabled people in one way or another.
We believe you are expert in knowing what you want and we are
your partners in supporting you to explore ways of getting the most out
of your life.
how we can help you make choices about your life
Lifestyles
can support you to make choices about your life. Being part of your
community is about having choices and opportunities. We can support you
to explore the possibilities. This means that you are in control of
choosing what you want to do and how you want to do it. Having real
choices and opportunities means being able to plan for the future and
make positive changes. Lifestyles can help you to be independent. We
can help you to find the support, assistance or resources you need to
turn possibilities into realities. The opportunities are out there for
you to share your talents and skills and play an active part in your
community.
living
We can support you to explore the alternatives available for you to
live independently. We can help you make the right choices. We offer a
number of independent living opportunities. These include supporting
you to employ your own assistants or we can recruit volunteer workers
or support workers on your behalf to provide you with the help you
need.
learning
Are you interested in learning something new or building on the skills
you already have? We offer a number of learning opportunities as a
first step, from one-day workshops to life skills and expressive arts
courses. Lifestyles can also help you explore what is available in your
community.
employment
Lifestyles can support you to find employment or work experience. We
offer a number of opportunities which provide work experience and
training for people making the move towards paid employment or
voluntary work.
