Enabling and Advocacy

Most people want to have choice and control over their life.

  • Where do you want to live?
  • Who do you want to spend time with?
  • Do I want to learn new skills?
  • Do I want to find employment or work experience?
  • What do I want to do during the day, evening and weekends?
  • How can I do these things?
  • How do I find out what choices are available?
  • Where do I start?

Most of us need support from other people from time to time. The Enabling and Advocacy Project supports people on a one-to-one basis to explore their aims, goals and dreams. We work with people in a person-centered way, enabling the individual to take the lead in exploring opportunities within the community.

The Enabling and Advocacy team, which includes Outreach Workers and Volunteers, support individuals to:

  • Explore there own aims, goals and dreams.
  • Work towards these aims, goals and dreams.
  • Put structures in place to support positive change.

Enabling and Advocacy work with people who are 16-65 years of age who have:

  • physical disability
  • sensory impairment
  • learning difficulties
  • acquired brain injury
  • mental ill health
